Connect Wälo to Claude or ChatGPT
Ask your AI about your finances — “How much did I spend on groceries this month?”, “When is my card due?” — and it answers with your real Wälo data, with no copying and pasting.
You need Wälo’s Premium or Family plan and a Claude or ChatGPT account that supports connectors.
ChatGPT and Claude need no token: you sign in to Wälo, tick the permissions and press «Allow».
Ask your AI for "Wälo help" to see everything it can do with your finances, grouped by topic and based on the permissions you granted.
https://walomoney.com/api/mcpIn Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
- Open Settings → Connectors and click “Add custom connector”.
- Name it Wälo and paste the server address.
- Click “Connect”: Wälo will open. Sign in (with your second factor, if you use one), review the permissions and click “Allow”.
- Done: in a new chat, turn on Wälo in the tools menu and ask.
In Claude Code
Run this command, then /mcp to sign in to Wälo:
claude mcp add --transport http walo https://walomoney.com/api/mcpIn ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors. If your plan requires it, turn on developer mode under Advanced settings.
- Click “Create”, name it Wälo, paste the server address and choose OAuth authentication.
- ChatGPT will take you to Wälo: sign in, review the permissions and click “Allow”.
- If ChatGPT could not register the connection before, disconnect it and connect again, leaving the write permissions ticked. You do not need any token.
Other AIs and tools (personal token)
If your client does not support OAuth sign-in, generate a personal token in Settings → Connect your AI and send it in the Authorization: Bearer header. Personal tokens expire after 90 days at most.
What the AI sees
- Read-only: the AI can look things up, but never create, edit, move money or delete.
- Only what you allow: each permission opens one area, and you can untick the ones you don’t want when connecting.
- Only your household. Wälo logs every request (tool, date, IP and country) and you can review it in Settings.
- What the AI does with the answers is governed by Anthropic’s or OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy, not Wälo’s.
- Financial summary — balances, net worth, income and spending for the month
- Transactions — merchants, amounts, dates and categories, with search
- Budget — progress for the month and spending by category
- Debts and cards — balances, rates, utilization and upcoming payments
- Investments — holdings, market value and performance
- Goals — savings goals and their progress
- Register transactions — record your bank notices and statements; anything doubtful stays pending for you to approve
- Create accounts and cards — from your statements
- Create categorization rules
- Turn on automatic registration for an account
- Create savings goals and add to them
- Create projects with a budget
- Plan: spending plan, recurring payments and categories
- Set the budget
- Fix and archive what already exists
- Debts: create loans and record payments
- Investments: record purchases and sales
How to disconnect
In Wälo: Settings → Connect your AI → Connected apps → Disconnect. Access is cut off immediately. You can also remove the connector from Claude or ChatGPT, and changing your password disconnects every app.
