Revocable access, not your password
ChatGPT and Claude connect by signing in to Wälo, without creating any token. For Cursor, scripts or Ollama you generate a PAT (Personal Access Token) in one click: Wälo stores only its SHA-256 cryptographic hash — the plaintext token never touches disk. You can revoke either one just as fast.
Granular permissions (scopes)
You share only what you want: the summary, transactions, budget, debts, investments or goals. Maximum expiry 90 days — a limit enforced at database level.
Full audit
Every AI query is recorded with IP, country, tool called and duration. If you see anything odd — one click and access dies instantly.
Read-only, unless you allow more.
By default the AI only reads. If you grant the “Record transactions” permission, it can log the bank and card notices and statements it finds in your email, with no bank connection or forwarding rules: they come in as if you had imported them yourself, without duplicating what you already have, and anything doubtful stays pending in Import. It can never edit or delete anything. Limit of 60 queries per minute per token — even if the AI goes haywire, it can't flood your account.

ChatGPT and Claude: sign in, no token
Add Wälo as a connector with the URL https://walomoney.com/api/mcp. In ChatGPT it is added as a custom connector (requires a paid OpenAI plan): Settings → Apps or Connectors, paste the URL and leave authentication on OAuth. In Claude: Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. Wälo asks you to sign in; you review and tick the permissions (the minimum, or also the write ones if you want it to record transactions) and press “Allow”. You don't have to create any token.
Cursor, scripts and Ollama: personal token
Only for clients that can't sign in. Go to Settings → “Connect your AI”, press “Generate token”, give it a name, choose a duration and tick the minimum permissions; copy the token right away — Wälo does NOT store it in clear text. Then paste it into your client. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http walo https://walomoney.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN". Cursor: Settings → MCP Servers → Add. Ollama: Continue.dev or OpenWebUI.
Talk to your data
Restart the client. Wälo will appear as an available tool. Ask freely: “how much did I spend on restaurants this month?”, “what is my total debt?”, “which card should I pay first?” The AI will automatically call the right tools with your real data.
Audit and revoke whenever you want
Apps connected by sign-in (ChatGPT, Claude) are removed in Settings → Connect your AI → Connected apps → Disconnect. Each personal token has an “Activity” button: you see the last 100 queries with date, IP, country and tool. If something looks off, one click and access dies instantly. Wälo will warn you 7 days before a token expires.
